Post-Christmas break this year was just outside
Richmond in a very nice let for the week. Have a
look at the
video
above, a bit wonky I know, but it will give you
some idea. It’s a delightful ‘chalet’, very alpine
and authentic looking in the snow. Modern with all
cons and very warm thanks to efficient heating and
the glass frontage that benefits from the sunlight.
The weather has been very cold and snowy in this
part of the world, but it at least makes it
picturesque. We’ve had a nice time here just
relaxing and going out when we want to for supplies
and a bit of sight seeing. The roads have been
pretty treacherous and I’ve only ventured out once
on the bike to go to Barnard Castle, but had to be
very careful because of the icy conditions. And it
was freezing cold. My poor feet and hands, in spite
of the latest hi-tech gear, were frozen. The rest
of me was fine. I’ve invested in some wonderful
merino wool base layers, and they really do the
job. Much better than synthetic stuff. It keeps you
toasty warm, wicks away perspiration so that you
stay dry, and - so the ads say - is ‘no stink’,
having some kind of natural ability to stop you
smelling !
See above for a video of the
place.
The people in it are Richard and David relaxing and
reading the papers ! The tasteful music in some of
the clips is just an taste of the sophisticated
musical horizons of R and D. Oh, I forgot to tell
you that I’ve upgraded my iPhone to a 3GS which has
video facility so I can take little movies
whenever. Expect more !
