Portugal 2007

Summer holidays this year were supposed to be in Portugal at Liz and Steve’s house, which David, Richard and I had booked for the last two weeks of July. But Basrah got in the way for me, although I managed to arrange for my one week’s R and R to coincide with the start of it so that I could get a few days there at least. David and Richard were to be there for the majority of time, joined by other house guests as the two weeks went on. Nice house, very comfortable, nice area, guaranteed good weather.

All others had a lovely time. Somewhere to return to, I think.

Post Easter and another foray to Liz and Steve's house in Portugal. This time a little more successfully that during my R & R from Basrah in summer 2007. It is a very nice house, well appointed etc., just our kind of thing. We ventured out sparingly spending most of the week around the house and the pool, sunning, reading, drinking, cooking and doing lots of sleeping. The weather was great and it being spring the place was ablaze with colourful vegetation. The local roads were being dug up while we were there to put in central sewerage and gas so it was a bit difficult - well impossible - to get the car up to the house, but no bother really. We had a few meals out, but mostly ate in and shopped at the Faro equivalent of Waitrose. Including getting David to eat some real fish looking fish (see coverflow). It was a good and relaxing week.
