A visit to see Michael in Donegal, just across the border from Derry, and not easy to get to with all the security restrictions on us, but a little bit of inventiveness helped. Burt, Co Donegal is beautiful standing high above Lough Swilly and looking out and down to the Lough and beyond to the Atlantic. The church, Saint Aengus, is a 1960s building which won the Irish Architectural Aware for the Millennium, so it is a worthy building and though 1960s and concrete, it is beautiful. It is built to reflect the Irish Celtic fort that stands on the hill nearby. Michael has obtained a plot of land nearby and is building his own house for his retirement. Should be nice. Another place for holidays, maybe !
